Job description: Supplemental InformationThe Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.The Business Tax Enforcement Division collects delinquent business taxes, majority of which are through levies, payment plans and pursuing officer liabilities. We work all business tax correspondence and email inquiries. Our division facilitates the collection of sales tax of all special events, such as fairs and festivals, throughout the state. We have a team of officers doing business tax inspections on businesses with alcohol permits. Recently, we teamed up with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and we have a representative at their location to assist customers and collect the sales tax on their boat purchases. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax enforcement, taxpayer assistance, tax collection, tax systems work, tax auditing, tax audit review, tax law, tax accounting, management analysis, or administrative services.SUBSTITUTIONS:Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
