Job description: Reports to: The Program DirectorLocation: In-person, Cleveland, OHHours: Full-Time, 40 hours per weekSalary Range: $42,000-48,000Benefits: Benefits include a generous PTO (Paid Time Off) & parental leave policy, medical and dental coverage, a 403(b) plan, and travel reimbursement.JOB SUMMARY:The Program Manager- Soccer works in collaboration with the America SCORES Cleveland staff, schools, and community partners to oversee all program activities related to our health and soccer programming. The Program Manager- Soccer will play a role within the program team to support the overall quality of our programs and support the organization’s mission to serve Cleveland youth through soccer, poetry, and service-learning.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Contribute to the America SCORES Cleveland team and overall operations: actively participate in annual goal-setting, initiatives, events, and day-to-day functioning with a team-centered approach; be open to giving and receiving constructive feedback; be open to fulfilling necessary jobs or roles as needed.Programming
- Oversee the implementation of all aspects of our soccer programming including curriculum modifications, structure, and the ordering, distribution, and collection of equipment.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluations, and on-going support of all Soccer Coaches
- Take the lead on planning and implementing all soccer related special events (2 minimum per year)
- Oversee the soccer/health evaluations (spring) and assist with all other program evaluation implementation and collection.
- Oversee all soccer/sports safety protocols for the organization; and ensure all soccer coaches and staff are in compliance with mandatory safety training (CPR/First Aid, Concussion, Cardiac Arrest, etc).
- Conducted program sites to ensure effective program delivery and implementation; serve as Substitute Coach, as needed.
- Oversee game day preparation, including scheduling, painting, and setting up soccer fields.
- Manage the recruitment and training of Referees and Game Day Coordinators.
- Plan, lead and manage soccer enrichment/extension programming including but not limited to summer, alumni, winter, City of Cleveland, etc.
- Oversee the work of part-time program coordinators with main responsibilities under soccer programming
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local soccer community partners, clubs, sports plex, etc.
- Stay abreast of youth sports health & safety guidelines and practices to ensure SCORES is always compliant and implementing best-practices.
- Assist with recruiting program participants
- Assist with the recruitment and training of liaisons and writing coaches.
- Assist in developing and delivering new & innovative programming, including new school recruitment.
- Assist with all other program aspects in collaboration with the program team
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist and support community soccer supply drives and donations that benefit America SCORES Cleveland (creating wish list, accepting donations, overseeing the distribution of donations, etc)
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of SCORES Cup, annual charity soccer tournament
- Attend occasional evening and weekend community- or school-based events on behalf of SCORES
- Support alumni relations and engagement in partnership with other program staff
- Assist and attend events hosted by the organization (Poetry SLAM, golf tournament, annual fundraiser)
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:Required:
- Passionate about America SCORES’ mission, public education, and working with under-represented communities to provide access to quality afterschool activities
- Strong background in the sport of soccer
- Highly motivated to continue improving the quality of America SCORES Cleveland’s youth development programming
- Extremely organized, detailed and task-oriented, and able to work on several projects at once, while also possessing the ability to improvise when necessary
- Some experience with program / project management
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft and/or Google Docs
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all stakeholders that make up the America SCORES Cleveland family, including the youth we serve, coaches and other staff, caregivers, principals, teachers and community partners
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly and pick up new skills; proactively identifies and creatively solves problems
- Able to work independently, reporting updates in a timely manner to the program team, Executive Director and/or school partners
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Candidates should own a car, as program sites are throughout the city.
- Candidate must pass a background check
- Must be flexible, dependable, and have a good sense of humor.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
Preferred:
- Background in coach development, youth sports, or health & wellness
- Experience working with youth and people from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in Spanish or other languages
- Experience in a public, private or non-profit organization, focused on youth service delivery or public education
- Supervisory experience
