As the Procurement Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to lead a team of Buyers and oversee the Warehouse Operations at Port Manatee. - Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Buyers to ensure flawless execution of procurement activities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal partners, proactively addressing supply chain issues and opportunities.
- Lead and coach the Warehouse Team to provide world-class support to all plant functions.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Expand the supply base by identifying and selecting new suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost, and ethical standards.
- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and service levels.
- Work closely with colleagues from different departments to ensure procurement activities are in line with organizational objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations through market research and analysis.
- Foster strong relationships with suppliers, conducting ongoing performance evaluations and issue resolution.
- Manage inventory levels and implement inventory management strategies to avoid shortages or excesses.
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics to track performance and report on sourcing effectiveness
Requirements
- Be a Safety Leader, setting high expectations and maintaining a positive safety culture.
- Demonstrated performance and experience in procurement, with prior management experience strongly preferred.
- Extensive understanding of procurement principles, strategies, and effective approaches.
- Proven experience in Engineer-To-Order or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
- Strong skills in forecasting, budgeting, cost optimization, and negotiation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse internal customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
- Willingness to work flexible, demanding schedules with availability around the clock.
- Travel may be required, up to 20% of the time.
Qualifications
- Equivalent experience in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred, with a bachelor’s degree.
- Technical background in fields such as Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing is a plus.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and systems, preferably SAP.
