We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Legal Secretary to join our small personal injury firm. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities, impeccable grammar and spelling, and a strong aptitude for multitasking. This role involves extensive client interaction, drafting correspondence, conducting interviews, transcribing dictations, summarizing medical records, and maintaining paper-based filing systems. While prior experience in workers’ compensation and/or personal injury law is preferred, we are open to training candidates who demonstrate exceptional potential and a willingness to learn.Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, demonstrating strong customer service skills and professionalism at all times.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including letters, pleadings, motions, and other correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established formats and legal procedures.
  • Conduct client interviews, gathering necessary information under attorney supervision.
  • Transcribe dictations from attorneys and other legal professionals accurately and efficiently.
  • Summarize medical records and other relevant documentation for case preparation.
  • Manage paper-based filing systems, organizing and maintaining documents for easy retrieval.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to support case preparation and litigation processes.
  • Stay current with legal industry trends and developments, continually seeking opportunities for professional growth and development.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in legal studies preferred.
  • Prior experience as a legal secretary or similar role, preferably in workers’ compensation and/or personal injury law.
  • Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and typing, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility regarding work hours and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and willingness to learn and grow in the role.

Expected salary: $50000 – 70000 per year
