The firm prides itself on delivering exceptional client service while maintaining a collaborative and innovative environment for its employees.Job DescriptionThe Legal Secretary will play a vital role in supporting the patent attorneys in the Intellectual Property department. This multifaceted position involves administrative tasks, document preparation, docketing, and patent prosecution assistance. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent attention to detail, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.The Legal Secretary will work closely with patent attorneys and paralegals to ensure all patent matters are handled accurately and deadlines are met. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the intellectual property field while contributing to the firm’s continued success.Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to patent attorneys
- Prepare and file various patent applications and documents via IPDAS
- Draft legal documents such as declarations, assignments, and responses
- Download foreign patents and publications for information disclosure statements
- Maintain dockets and monitor deadlines for domestic and international filings
- Electronic filing with the USPTO through their online system
- Manage case files, open new matters, and request conflicts clearance
- Assist with additional duties and projects as assigned
Required Experience/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate
- Minimum 3 years of patent prosecution experience
- Proficiency in document management databases (FileSite/DeskSite)
- Familiarity with docketing databases (CPI, EFS, or IPDAS)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with trademark prosecution
- Interest or background in science/technology fields
- Exposure to a law firm environment
