Job description: Job Description:Primary PurposeMaintain a regenerative medicine-based scientific, technological, and economic regenerative medicine ecosystem. The ecosystem includes academic, business, government, and economic development, and non-profit partners representing research and development, translation, education and workforce development, regional outreach, and related regenerative medicine and related technology policy.Major ResponsibilitiesUnder the Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (NSF-Piedmont Triad Regenerative Medicine Engine institutional PI), the person in the position will:
- Maintain a regenerative medicine-based scientific, technological, and economic regenerative medicine ecosystem centered in north central North Carolina. The ecosystem includes academic, business, government, and economic development, and non-profit partners representing research and development, translation, education and workforce development, regional outreach, and related regenerative medicine and related technology policy.
- Connect ecosystem partners through established organized leadership bodies, and as appropriate (boards, councils, committees, etc.).
- Oversee ecosystem collaborative planning, policy, and evaluation functions.
- Supervise ecosystem-based, collaborative use-inspired research, development, and translation projects. R&D and translation efforts may include:
- building capacity among academic, non-profit, and business collaborating partners in regenerative medicine;
- convening collaborating partners to facilitate joint R&D/translation projects; and
- connecting emerging businesses (start-up and early-stage growth companies) with a continuum of business development and growth opportunities and partners.
- Supervise a regenerative medicine employer-driven workforce development program in R&D, translation, and production spanning the workforce continuum from technician to research scientist or manufacturing manager. The position will also support regenerative medicine academic programs in the ecosystem – K-12 to graduate school.
- Coordinate business development opportunities with technology transfer partners to develop joint business and product initiatives and establish or attract new and emerging companies to the ecosystem.
- Lead resource development efforts to support the expansion and long-term sustainability of ecosystem efforts, seeking out competitive and non-competitive funding opportunities from government, industry, philanthropic, and other sources.
- Serve as a liaison with public sector agencies, government officials, non-governmental organizations, industry, and the public to communicate the impact of regenerative medicine partnerships in the region and nationally.
- Supervise the operational management of all budgets and reporting requirements for externally funded ecosystem projects.
- A demonstrated commitment to broadening participation to ensure underrepresented populations have career opportunities in the regenerative medicine ecosystem.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the NSF-PTRME institutional PI and Governing Board.
