This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.The Division of Research and Economic Development works closely with university researchers, business leaders and other sponsors to promote faculty expertise aimed at solving real-world problems in society and industry. The university has positioned itself as a research and innovation leader in agriculture and precision agriculture, biological and life sciences, and rural health and wellbeing. The university is the state’s first Carnegie R2 High Research Activity institution and aims to become a Carnegie R1 Very High Research Activity univeristy.South Dakota State University promotes access to and opportunities for all to receive the benefit of and participate in education, research, and service and is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to this land-grant mission of access.Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position will help lead and manage the Division of Research and Economic Development’s support of SDSU research, research partnerships, and economic development engagement.

  • Project management:
  • Assist, coordinate, or lead research for documentation and materials related to projects and communications.
  • Coordinate data collection and analysis to inform strategies and tactics.
  • Ensure leadership is well resourced and prepared for leading the university’s research and economic development undertakings.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, projects, and meetings.
  • Facilitate excellence in research communications and branding by coordinating content experts and communications experts to ensure consistent and up-to-date information to both internal and external audiences.
  • Provide executive assistance to the vice-president:
  • Keep abreast of the vice-president’s priorities to manage information, time allocation, and commitments accordingly.
  • Ensure preparation for effective meetings.
  • Manage documentation and follow-up of meetings.

  • Bachelor’s degree completed by first day of employment.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with project management, communications and/or executive assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize information and develop actions.
  • Interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years’ experience in one of the areas of communications, project management, or executive assistance, and at least three years of experience in one or both remaining two areas; and
  • Experience in public or not-for-profit organizations.
