Position SummaryThe Access Control Coordinator is responsible for the planning, administration, and implementation of the various methods and procedures related to building access on the Portland State University on an on-going basis balancing the needs of the public and the University with safety and security foremost in mind.The Coordinator establishes and maintains procedures and other controls necessary to carry out assigned program activities; coordinates projects to accomplish identified goals and objectives; monitors program activities for compliance with applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures; audits expenditures, analyzes and evaluates financial and statistical data, and conducts studies related to assigned program areas, while evaluating information and preparing reports which may include a thorough analysis of subjects and recommendations on a course of action. Other responsibilities include implementing recommendations approved by management, and assisting administrators in developing long and short range operational or program goals.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification-Four years of experience as an executive assistant, administrative analyst, researcher or administrative officer which included administrative duties, provision of technical assistance, or operations review. Two of the required years must have included administration or oversight of an on-going project or program.A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or a closely-related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience. There is no substitution for the two years of administrative experience.Note:
Preference may be given to individuals with experience in a specialty area specific to the position opening.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

  • Possession of a valid State-issued driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in monitoring and utilizing various methods of providing access control in a multi-structural environment. Training and experience in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design(CPTED), as well as modern public safety practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in policing, security or related field.
  • Knowledge of the variety of access control devices
  • Academic study of crime analysis. Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience using Lenel On-Guard Access Control computer system.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience on Crime Prevention or Community Policing.

Work Days/Hours Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
